Born in East LA is about Rudy (Cheech Marin), a Mexican-American living in Los Angeles. One day he goes to pick up his cousin who lives in a sweat shop downtown. INS busts the sweat shop while Rudy is there and gets deported to Mexico because he forgot his wallet at home. In Mexico Rudy meets Jimmy (Daniel Stern) an American on the run from the law who helps Rudy pay to sneak across the border by doing odd jobs for him in Tijuana. Rudy meets a girl who he falls in love with and in the end Rudy rediscovers his heritage as a Mexican.
